Between the wars, writer and painter Cevat Şakir Kabaağaç lived in Bodrum and wrote an account of his idyllic sailing excursions along Turkey’s southern Aegean and western Mediterranean coast,an area completely untouched by tourism at the time.Kabaağaç callad his book Mavi Yolculuk (Blue Voyage or Blue Cruise),a name now co-opted for any cruise along these shores.

The original “Blue Voyage or Blue Cruise” was born out of the curiosity and imagination of novelist and short story writer Cevat Sakir Kabaagacli (1886 – 1973) who was exiled to the Turkish south-west for three years in 1925.
The writer who explore blue cruise or gulet cruise, led a simple life and spent his days exploring coastline by boat, the best and only form of transport available to him. Interested in nature, history and archaeology, the writer so enjoyed his new life that he decided to remain there after his period of exile was over.

During the years that followed, Kabaagacli invited friends from Istanbul and Izmir to join him on his floating excursions along what is known today as the “Turquoise Coast”. Companions included one of his closest confidants, art historian Sabahattin Eyuboglu (1908 – 1973), who helped him create this priceless tradition and who first coined the term “Blue Voyage”.

• Private Yacht Charters : If you are a group of people, friends or family you can hire a private gulet or motoryacht yacht with crew. The advantage of a private yacht charter, you can choose the yacht of your preference, the tour programme, food on board and may have special requests.
• Cabin Charters in Turkey: It is prefered by holiday makers who do not have a group, but still want to sail on a yacht. You can hire a cabin of a gulet yacht and meet other voyagers from different countries. There will be crew on board serving you.
• Bareboat Charters in Turkey: Licensed sailors can hire a yacht without crew. If requested, skippers and sailors may be hired as well.
